Welcome to Shalom Desk — a Notion OS for Jewish community organizations. This guide walks you through the first steps so you can make the template your own.

1. Clear the demo data

Every database in this template ships with sample rows so you can see how things connect. Before you start entering real information, you'll want to remove that demo data. You have two options:

Option A — Let Notion AI do it for you

  1. Open this chat (or start a new one from anywhere in the workspace).

  2. Ask Notion AI something like:

Please remove all demo data from every database in Shalom Desk.

  3. Notion AI will sweep through each database in the Databasement and clear out the sample rows, leaving the schemas, views, and dashboards intact.

Tip: You can also ask Notion AI to clear one area at a time — for example, "Clear demo data from the Events database only."

Option B — Do it yourself in each database

  1. Open the Databasement toggle on the Shalom Desk home page.
  2. Click into the first database (e.g. Events).
  3. Switch to a Table view so every row is visible.
  4. Click the checkbox on the first row, then hold Shift and click the checkbox on the last row to select everything.
  5. Right-click the selection and choose Delete (or press Delete / Backspace).
  6. Repeat for each database in the Databasement: Events, Education, Facilities & Ops, Finance, Membership, Communications, Personnel, and Worship & Services.

2. Get to know the structure

Shalom Desk follows a databasement → dashboards pattern:
